Metadata for Music Tracks

< prev | next >

Required Fields

Title

The title of your track, limited to 5 words or less.

For example, "Midnight Love Song"

Description

The description is where you should add additional information, such as instrumentals, key, and/or styles.

For example, "Electric guitar heavy metal in the key of G, with hard and fast drumming"

Keywords

Good keywords describe the instrumentals, mood, and tempo of the track. For example, "Heavy guitar, Drums, Aggressive, Fast"

Primary Category/Genre

A track's primary category is a critical search tool used by our customers. Currently, available primary categories are:

Blues, Children's, Classical, Country, Easy Listening, Electronica/Dance, Hip-Hop/Urban, Jazz, New Age, Pop, R&B, Reggae, Rock, World

Emotion/Mood

As important as describing a track's primary category/genre accurately is properly describing the mood conveyed by the music. Currently, the available categories are:

Sad, Sentimental, Tranquil, Playful, Happy, Exciting, Solemn, and Dramatic.

There are many other adjectives that can be used, but to keep things simple and as objective as possible, we limit the preset moods to those described above. A good way to determine the mood of your track is to consider where it falls on a scale of energy and stress, as shown in the image to the right.

Tempo

The tempo describes the pace of your track:

Very Slow, Slow, Moderate, Fast, and Very Fast

Loopable?

You must specify whether or not your track is designed to be played in a loop.

Optional Fields

Publishing Rights Organization (PRO)

If your track is registered with ASCAP, BMI, or SESAC, enter the name of composers, publishers, and their respective percentage of rights along with the registered PRO for the track. This is the only way we will submit cue sheets to the PRO if your track is used in a broadcast project.
